英语听力和口语测试是研究生复试中的重要组成部分。从 2005年起研究生初试中英语取消听力，英语听力和口语的考查放到复试中进行，英语听力和口语的分值要记入总分，考生对英语口语和听力一定要认真准备。英语听力和口语测试是研考复试的重要组成部分。考生应该利用从初试结束到复试开始这一段时间，强化英语口语和听力的训练。
听力准备要提前预热
英语听力部分，大多数学校都以现有的成型考试为参考。考生在准备听力复试的过程中，对于现有的成熟英语考试的听力部分一定要重视，比如六级听力、托福听力和雅思听力应该是复习的重点。在复习时可以有针对性地做一些六级或托福听力或雅思听力的试题。平时大量听力练习的空隙，觉得做题枯燥了，收听一下英语新闻，看看发音清晰的英文影片，再放松欣赏的同时又培养了语感，真可谓一举两得。
在参加复试前这段有限的时间里要尽快熟悉与考试相近的内容。考生大都考过六级听力，并不陌生，而托福听力又是四六级听力命题的基础，熟悉了四六级和托福听力；英语复试问题就不算太大。总之，在这段宝贵的时间里，一定要坚持做好听力的磨练。
口语测试准备好话题
复试中对英语口语能力的考核，从三个方面进行考查和评价：一是语言的准确性，即语法和用词的准确性、语法结构的复杂性、词汇的丰富程度、发音的准确性；二是话语的长短和连贯性，即内容的连贯性、寻找合适的词语而造成的停顿频率及长短、表达思想的语言长短等；三是语言的灵活性和适合性，即语言表达是否灵活、自然，话语是否得体，语言能否与语境、动机和目的相适应。针对这些考核内容，考生要有的放矢，有目的地训练自己的听力和口语。
对口语的考查，各个学校各不相同。有的学校制定了非常详细的标准和流程，甚至规定了每个老师发问的方式和时间；有的只是面试老师的自由发挥，成绩也基本上由面试老师主观判定。不管面试是否严格控制，考生对下面几个问题一定要认真准备：一是自我介绍，如自己来自什么地方，毕业学校，所学专业，业余喜好，家庭基本情况等信息。二是做好用英语讲解自己专业的准备。口语测试时老师有可能要求你就本专业展开话题，考查你用英语讲解陌生概念的能力。因此考生对此要有所准备，先用笔头组织这些问题的要点，然后再以这些词组织语言。在阅读专业文献时，也要多积累一些专业方面的英语词汇。当然在面试使这一类的提问不会太难。
