高频易混词汇巧辨析 考研英语添助力

　　▶award, reward, prize这一组词都和"奖"有关。
　　award v.指正式地或官方地颁发，授予，给予；也可以指法庭裁决给予。后面可跟双宾语。
　　E.g. The university awarded him an honorary degree.
　　这所大学授予他名誉学位。
　　reward v. 酬劳，奖赏，回报，通常指因做了某一件事或提供了某种服务而应得到报酬或酬谢，其后一般以人或人的行为作宾语。后跟with用来说明以何物作为报酬。
　　E.g. They rewarded the winners with gifts of fruits and flowers.
　　他们奖给优胜者一些水果和鲜花。
　　prize n."奖赏，奖品"，尤指在比赛竞赛中获得的荣誉；而award作名词常指奖金，奖品；reward作名词则指为某项劳动或行为所付的酬金。
　　E.g. The boys competed with each other for the prize.
　　那些男孩子为赢得奖品而互相竞争。

　　▶aware, conscious, sensible这一组词都与"意识"有关。
　　aware a.知道的，意识到的，强调感官对外界事物的意识。
　　E.g. Smokers are well aware of the dangers to their own health.
　　吸烟者们都很清楚吸烟对其自身健康的种种危害。
　　conscious a.有意识的，意识到的，一般指内心所意识到的。
　　E.g. I was not conscious of having made a mistake. 我没意识到犯了错误。
　　sensible a. 知道的，（可以）觉察的"，指感官对客观事物的反映或内心对外界不明显或过去不注意的事物开始有所认识或感知。
　　E.g. The sensible thing is to leave them alone. 明智的做法是不理他们。

　　▶base, basis, foundation, ground都有"基础"的意思。
　　base n.指具体的有形的基础，也可指物体的底部、基部；基地，总部。
　　E.g. Our mission was over, and went back to our base.
　　我们的任务结束了，返回了基地。
　　basis n. 一般指抽象意义上的"基础"；还可指事物的"主要成分，最重要的部分"。
　　E.g. We wanted to bottom our plan on a solid basis.
　　我们想把我们的计划建立在牢固的基础上。
　　foundation n.本义指建筑物的地基，坚实的基础的意思；基金会。
　　E.g. He laid the foundation of his success by study and hard work.
　　他通过学习和努力工作为成功打下了基础。
　　ground n.地面，土地，也指地域，水底，海底。
　　E.g. We slid down the roof and dropped to the ground.
　　我们从屋顶滑下来，掉到地上。

　　▶bewilder, puzzle, confuse, perplex这一组名词都有"困惑"的意思。
　　bewilder v.使困惑，使茫然，强调非常困惑，通常表现为心理和智力的紊乱，语气最重。
　　E.g. The silence from Alex had hurt and bewildered her.
　　亚历克斯的沉默令她伤心和迷惑不解。
　　puzzle v.使迷惑，感到不解，强调不理解或解决不了。
　　E.g. The question puzzled me. 这个问题把我难住了。
　　confuse v.使混乱，使糊涂，强调因混淆而使人产生迷乱。
　　E.g. People are apt to confuse the two issues. 人们容易把这两个问题混淆起来。
　　perplex v.使杂乱，使疑虑，使不安。
　　E.g. Faced with that dilemma, he was perplexed.
　　面对进退两难的局面，他不知如何是好。
